The ultimate goal of the charity is to empower Farato's residents to increase family income so they can pay tuitions themselves.  To this end, we started a micro loan program.

Each woman was granted a small loan of $35 to get started in a small business.  Many women sell fruit and vegetables at the local market.  Others prepare food they sell at lunch in the village or at the Ming Daw Secondary school.  Some sell  soap they have produced home.

Mama Janko administers the program.

She recirculates the money as it is repaid and others apply for it.

Two years after we started the program, mothers were able to pay the tuition for their children on the nursery level!
